Dubai answers frequently asked questions related to free Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine

As Dubai launched an extensive vaccination campaign in the emirate, the Dubai Media Office took to social media to answer some of the most frequently asked questions related to the free Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine.

How can I get the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in Dubai? 

The first stage of the campaign focuses on certain priority groups. You can book an appointment through the Dubai Health Authority’s (DHA) smartphone app, or call the toll free number 800342. 

Who will receive the vaccine? 

The campaign gives priority to senior Emirati citizens and residents (60 years and above), individuals with chronic diseases, and people of determination. Frontline workers from the public and private sectors and essential workers in other key professions will also be among the first to receive this vaccine. 

Will the vaccine be available for all Emirati citizens and residents in Dubai? 

Yes, the vaccine will be made available to all individuals who wish to receive it. 

Where can I get the vaccine? 

You can get the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine at the following authorized vaccination centres in Dubai: 

-Za’abeel Health Centre
-Al Mizhar Health Centre
-Nad Al Hamar Health Centre
-Al Barsha Health Centre
-Up-Town Occupational Health Screening Centre
-Hatta Hospital

What is the cost of the Covid-19 vaccine?

It is free-of-cost. 

Is the vaccination voluntary or compulsory in Dubai? 

The vaccination is voluntary for all residents and citizens. 

Can a person who was infected with Covid-19 take the vaccine? 

Yes, but he/she will need to take the vaccination after three months from the date of infection. 

If someone has taken any other vaccine other than the Covid-19 vaccine (For example the influenza vaccine), is it safe to take the Covid-19 vaccine? 

Yes, but you need to wait for more than four weeks after the influenza vaccine to be able to take the Covid-19 vaccine. 

I took a different Covid-19 vaccine recently, it is safe to take another Covid-19 vaccine? 

No. It is not safe to take a different type of Covid-19 vaccination. 

I might not be in Dubai to take my second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. Can I reschedule my vaccine for another day? 

It is strongly recommended to complete the vaccination course and abide by the scheduled time to ensure that you receive the maximum benefit of the vaccine. The second dose is scheduled 21 days after the first dose. 

Am I exempted from taking a PCR test to travel purposes or for pre-surgical procedures in Dubai if I have taken the Covid-19 vaccine? 

No, you are not exempted. For the time being, everyone is required to follow policies and regulations that are related to Covid-19 testing and screening in Dubai.
