Dubai resident shares experience after receiving Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine

A Dubai resident took to Reddit to share his experience following receiving the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine.

The resident, u/cugmui, received the jab yesterday.

So I got my Pfizer vaccine today from r/dubai

“For all the complaints I’ve had since moving to Dubai, it’s good to remember we’ve got a leadership that made it possible to get a safe vaccine available super quick and free of cost,” he wrote.

The expat said he called up the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) at 800 342 as he was in the category of those with a chronic issue. He revealed that he is hypertensive.

The medical personnel made him answer some queries on an interactive voice response (IVR) and with a person. After conversing with them, he was finally booked, and gave him a choice of location.

“Appointment date was about 3 to 4 days after the call,” he added.

The Dubai Media Office has earlier tweeted that those residents who want to get vaccinated by Pfizer-BioNTech need to secure a Medical Record Number through the DHA app. He, however, didn’t have one so the DHA made him one and received it over SMS a few minutes later.

The expatriate then went to Mirdif Medical Fitness Centre and was made to register and sign a consent form and was put in a waiting area with about 10 to 12 others.

“When my turn came, my vitals were taken and I got the jab. Had to hang around in the observation area for a few minutes to ensure no reaction. Then I was asked to make an appointment for the second dose before leaving,” he said.

He said that the entire process was ‘smooth and fast’.

“Total one hour and 20 minutes in and out,” he added.
