The winter season in the UAE means grilling season for some. But did you know that there are public areas in UAE where you’re not allowed to grill? Barbecuing or smoking shisha in Ajman’s public parks, green areas, and beaches attract a fine of AED1,000.

Khalid Al Hosani, Director of Health and Environment Department at the Ajman Municipality, confirmed that the municipality has launched an inspection campaign targeting the practices in the mentioned areas.

It banned the barbecue and shisha practices in an effort to maintain the health and safety of the residents and visitors. “The parks, green areas, and beaches are the most vital places visited b residents and it’s our duty to ensure they have an ideal and healthy environment to enjoy it,” he said.

Ahmed Saif Al Muhairi, Director of the Agriculture and Public Parks Department at the Ajman University said that they have observed some residents in the area violating the regulation by smoking shisha at night.

Signboards in parks were also installed to educate residents about the importance of preserving the environment.
