A top UAE government official said that with the virus mutations, residents may need to receive the vaccine against the deadly coronavirus each year just like a flu shot.
Farida Al Hosani, official spokesperson for the UAE Health Sector, that that the more the virus mutates, the more is the potential need to vaccinate annually against it.
She cited the flu vaccine which is distributed to communities every year.
Al Hosani also revealed that 40 to 50 percent of people infected with Covid-19 in the country do not feel any symptoms.
“Based on this, we increased focus on old people. The earlier the detection of the virus among old people and people with pre-existing conditions, the more chance the virus can be contained,” she said.
