Philippines ready to start Covid-19 vaccination drive on Feb 15

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a briefing that the Philippine government is ready to start its vaccination drive on February 15. He said that the deployment of the initial doses of the vaccines against Covid-19 can start by next week. 

“Ilang tulog na lang at darating na ang unang batch ng ating bakuna. Handang handa na po ang ating gobyerno para magsimula ang ating vaccination drive nitong ika-15 ng Pebrero,” he said. 

According to its immunization plan, frontliners will be the first to receive the first doses of the vaccine. 

The first shipment from the Covax facility will cover some 117,000 doses from Pfizer-BioNTech. It is expected to cover around 56,000 medical frontliners and hospital staff at the Philippine General Hospital, Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital and Sanitarium or Tala Hospital, Lung Cancer of the Philippines, and the East Avenue Medical Centre.
