On 10 March 2021, the Senate of the Republic of the Philippines adopted Senate Resolution No. 671, expressing profound appreciation of the Filipino people to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the UAE, for his “gestures of compassion, concern, friendship, solidarity and support toward the Filipino people in times of natural disasters and during the course of the pandemic.”

Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Hjayceelyn M. Quintana said that the recognition from the Philippine Senate is a timely gift of the Filipino people to HH Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed on his 60th birthday, and to all Emiratis on UAE’s Golden Jubilee this year. Amb. Quintana said that the Senate Resolution showed the sincere gratitude of the Filipinos for the kindness and generosity shown by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed towards the Filipino people over the years.

According to Amb. Quintana, Filipinos in the UAE are elated that the Philippine Senate, through the authorship of Senator Richard J. Gordon and unanimously supported by all senators, recognized HH Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed’s deep support for Filipinos through the assistance given to the Philippines in times of natural disasters such as Typhoon Yolanda, Typhoon Goni, and the Taal Volcano eruption, and during the pandemic, by also publicly extolling the heroism of Filipino medical frontliners in the UAE.

Sen. Gordon, who is also the Chairman of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), spoke on how he has seen firsthand the direct assistance given by the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), the UAE’s main humanitarian assistance agency, as it carried out the directives of the Crown Prince in lending a helping hand to the Filipinos in times of great need.”
