Undergraduate domestic worker grateful after taking Filipino Institute’s free online course

Despite working as a full-time housekeeper, Rochelle Allawigan further completed a free online certification course offered by the Filipino Institute. According to the Sharjah-based Filipina, she is grateful for the training institution’s opportunity for home-based workers like her.

Allawigan, 28, took the Marketing and Sales program to know more about the things involved in promoting, selling, and distributing goods and services. She also learned the importance of working hand in hand in an office setup to make sure that there are no conflicts that might affect the business.

“Dahil sainyo kahit nasa bahay lang ako nag work, nakapag-tapos ako,” she proudly said.

“Sa bahay lang po ako at local ang amo ko. Kapag may oras lang ako nakakapag-aral. Kaya po gusto ko matapos yung free course kasi gusto ko po matuto at this is also a good opportunity na tulad ko po na single mom and hindi po kaya makaopag-aral,” she further added.

She also aims to upgrade her career in the future.

“Hirap kasi mag-apply kapag hindi ka nakapagtapos. Kasi matagal ko nang gustong makapag-aral pero hindi ko afford, that’s why I am happy when I saw this opportunity,” Allawigan said.
