Filipino Institute signs agreement with Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas

- Advertisment -

Good news for Filipinos in the Middle East who wish to acquire a bachelor’s degree at a lower cost!

The Filipino Institute has partnered with the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas Inc. to offer Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP), which is a comprehensive educational assessment program at the tertiary level that recognizes, accredits, and gives equivalencies to knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values gained by individuals from non-formal, informal educational experiences, and relevant work.

The program, which fits with those overseas Filipino workers who didn’t finish and wasn’t able to start their bachelor’s degree, is being implemented through deputized high education institutions that shall award the appropriate college degree.

During the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement on Wednesday, April 28, through Zoom Meeting, present are Mr. Gabriel John Rimando, founder and president of the Filipino Institute; and Dr. Peter P. Laurel, president of the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas Inc., along with Mr. Frederick C. Badillo, Senior VP Finance; Dr. Cecille Pring, Vice President for Academics and Research; Dr. Abigail I. Manzano, Director for ETEEAP and Scholarship; and Ms. Josefina P. Laurel, Treasurer.

ETEEAPbeneficiaries must be Filipinos who are at least high school graduates. Citing the Commission on High Education’s (CHED) rules on the program, candidates must have at least five years in the field or industry related to the academic program they are obtaining an equivalency. They must also be able to show proof of proficiency, capability, and thorough knowledge in the field applied for equivalency.

“As promised to our fellow Filipinos, we are bringing this good news to you. Gaining a bachelor’s degree to rise through the ranks has been imperative, especially if you’re working abroad. The ETEEAP program is an alternative program for working professionals who were not able to finish their college education or were completely unable to step into college to earn a bachelor’s degree without going through traditional schooling methods,” Rimando said.

ETEEAP operates by virtue of Executive Order Number 330 signed by former President Fidel V. Ramos on May 10, 1996. It is currently administered by the CHED and colleges or universities that wish to offer it as part of their academic programs must gain CHED’s approval first.
