Every May 5, the world celebrates Global Hygiene Day to maintain global promotion, visibility, and sustainability of hand hygiene in health care and bring people together in support of hand hygiene improvement around the world.
To mark a momentous event, NMC Specialty Hospital Al Ain came up with a breath of fresh air campaign to stress the importance of cleaning one’s hands to prevent infections. Through a short and original video, the team has performed in what seems to be a music video that advocates the annual celebration.
“Cleaning your hands is instrumental in controlling the spread of infections and having a positive impact on patient safety. Today, on Global Hand Hygiene Day, stand with us and join the global movement to achieve better health and help save lives by washing our hands,” the video’s description on Facebook read.
Dr. Somansu Basu, Specialist Microbiologist and Chairman for Infection Control in NMC Specialty Al Ain, said that during Covid-19 a strong and robust infection control program is a top priority.
“Our top priority is to deliver the fine top care infection control,” he said in the video.
For his part, Dr. Iajaz Ahmed, NMC Specialty Hospital Al Ain’s Medical Director, practicing hand hygiene is a simple yet effective way of preventing infections, especially during the pandemic.
“It becomes very important that we practice frequent hand hygiene. Wishing you all a very happy Hand Hygiene Day,” he added.
