Philippines and Qatar have recently celebrated their 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
The diplomatic relations of the South East Asian country and the Gulf State have started in 1981.
To mark the momentous event, the Office of the Presidential Assistant on Foreign Affairs, through its official Facebook page, posted photos of President Rodrigo Duterte’s 2017 visit to Qatar. The chief executive has met with Mohammaed Bin Saleh Al-Sada, Qatar’s Minister of Energy and Industry, Abdullah Bin Ali Alsaleti, Qatar’s Airport Chief of Protocol, and Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar.
Qatar is home to some 241 Filipinos. “Both countries have also continued working together to expand cooperation on defense, combatting terrorism and transnational crime, energy, people-to-people exchanges, and other areas. May Philippines-Qatar relations continue to grow in strength and meaning to bring greater peace, progress, and prosperity for the Filipino and Qatari peoples,” the office wrote.
