Filipinos in Qatar are urged to participate in a blood donation drive on June 25 that is being organized by Bantay at Kasangga ng OFW International Inc. Qatar Chapter.
The initiative, ‘Dugo ko, Buhay Mo,’ is also done in collaboration with the Filipino Community of Qatar.
Engineer Roldan Maghanoy, President of Qatar Chapter and VP External Bayanihan Qatar, told The Global Filipino Magazine that those who are qualified to donate may go directly to Hamad Hospital, Blood Bank.
Maghanoy said that they have been conducting blood drives annually since 2015, however, due to the pandemic, they were not able to organize it last year.
“First time po namin to gawin this year pero yearly to ginagawa ng group since 2015. Na-stop lang last year during the pandemic,” he added.
According to its organization profile, the group’s advocacy is to serve OFWs and support the government. To achieve their advocacy, they focus on conducting programs that are related to Environmental Protection, Welfare Assistance, Health Awareness, Knowledge Sharing and Information Drive, Case Assistance, and Financial Awareness.
So far, some 120 individuals have already registered to participate in the blood donation drive in Qatar. Filipino community groups that have pre-registered are under the umbrella of Bayanihan Qatar.
