The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai is hosting free online legal advice for Filipinos in the UAE on June 18, specifically for those who have loan and family problems.
The open forum will be conducted by Barney Almazar, Director of Gulf Law, who will give free legal assistance and guidance on how to deal with credit and debt and bank loans to about 500 people who register for the event.
Almazar told Khaleej Times that this is the first time that he will provide legal advice for Filipinos in the UAE online since providing legal aid in 2013 in-person.
So far, they have assisted more than 80,000 people. The topics vary from loans, employment, family issues (child support, divorce), and immigration.
“We have cases where credit card defaulters only paid AED12,000 out of AED1 million liability,” he said.
Almazar has also helped secure waivers of about AED720,000 in immigration fines.
