Covid-19 ‘green pass system’ goes live in Abu Dhabi’s public venue

The new Covid-19 green pass system went live in Abu Dhabi’s public venues on Tuesday morning.

Abu Dhabi is now requiring people to show their testing and vaccination status on Al Hosn tracing app to enter parks, beaches, malls, hotels, and large supermarkets. It also needed to access gyms, swimming pools, entertainment centres, restaurants, and cafes.

According to Mayank Pal, manager of Khalidiya Mall, more than 5,000 shoppers entered the mall from 8 am to 12:45 pm on Tuesday.

“Ninety-seven percent of the people who showed up managed to enter,” he was quoted as saying by The National.

The green pass is activated after a resident or tourist gets a negative Covid-19 PCR test result. Its validity depends on the person’s vaccination status.
