Filipino Institute Master of Business Administration (MBA) trainer and seasoned international educator Dr. Fermin Castillo has been selected as one of the United Federation of Fil-Am Educator’s Outstanding Leadership Award 2021 honorees. The award is only given to leaders who have made a positive and notable difference during his or her career in education, community service, and public service.
With the theme ‘Empowering Educators for the Challenges of the 21st Century’, the virtual awarding was conducted on July 17.
UNIFFIED is the largest and non-profit Filipino-American Education Association, a multi-service organization based in the US and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission in the Philippines.
“This is my second time winning the international award under UNIFFIED and I would like to share this award with the real and genuine people helping and serving the community and society in general. In this age of social media, we have seen many hype types of people using this platform for their own gain and advantage and even use their fame for their own business interest and agenda,” Dr. Castillo told The Global Filipino Magazine.
He added that community service is about helping others and not about fame, nor not about losing or winning awards contrary to other’s beliefs.
“In helping people there is no competition. It’s public service for the better of the next generation of people and society. I salute UNIFFIED for helping people across the globe,” he further added.
The Filipino educator spent half of his life teaching undergraduate and post-graduate levels in the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and the UAE.
