Employees in the UAE may expect another public holiday. However, it will not be a long weekend this time.
The Islamic New Year, also called the Hijri New Year or Arabic New Year is expected to fall on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, based on the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department. However, if the current month of Zul Hijjah lasts 29 days, then the Islamic New Year holiday will fall on Monday, August 9, 2021.
Since the celebration is based on the lunar system, the date is subject to the sighting of the moon.
The next holiday after the Islamic New Year would be in November on Martyr’s Day and UAE National Day in December.
