A total of 50 Filipinos have been nabbed in Spain for using fake visas to travel into the country.
Citing multiple reports, a travel agency in Manila has allegedly given 50 people fake visas for which they paid 1,300 euros or approximately P75,000 each. The agency has reportedly earned nearly 100,000 euros by committing the act.
Interpreter and mediator for the 50 Filipinos Ben Castillo said that the victims are facing two cases: falsification of public documents and irregular stay in Spain.
He was representing the victims before the Spanish Ministry of Justice.
He said that Spain may have caught the 50 Filipinos, there may have been nearly 150 more Filipinos in the country with the same case.
Consul General Theresa Lazaro said that they are in touch with the 50 Filipinos and with the Police Department head but didn’t disclose any more information as the case was still being investigated.
