Vice President Leni Robredo has urged the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) to immediately issue vaccination cards to fully vaccinated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) so that they can start their jobs abroad.
Robredo’s statement came after reports of OFWs being unable to return to work due to a lack of vaccination cards issued by local governments.
“Ilang ulit na natin sinabi sa programa natin ang unified na database para sa buong bansa. Kasi kung walang isang database…, ang daming mga instances na buhay pala, napatay,” she said.
In earlier reports, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) issued an advisory that OFWs who have received full vaccines in the Philippines, including those OFWs, may apply for an International Certificate of Vaccination (ICV), which is also called ‘yellow card’, should the country of registration required them to provide one.
“Outbound travellers who have been fully vaccinated in the Philippines may apply for ICV or yellow card with the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) if such as required in the country of destination. When making an appointment through the BOQ Medical Services OBS platform, applicants for ICV for Covid-19 must be able to pay through electronic means the of P300,” the advisory noted.
