NAIA operations temporarily stopped their operations due to a lightning red alert

-

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) operations were temporarily suspended due to lightning this Monday at noon.

According to the Department of Transportation (DOTr), PAGASA issued a red alert for lightning and thunderstorms at 12:37 p.m. within nine kilometres of the airport. All aircraft and ramp personnel are temporarily held for the purposes of safety.

“The Red Lighting Alert is a safety measure taken to prevent any untoward incident from happening when lightnings are prevalent in the immediate area and may endanger personnel, passenger, and even flight operations,” DOTr explained.
