D’Neo Filipino badminton group smashes tournament in Dubai

AL QUOZ, DUBAI, October 22, 2021: Filipinos and other nationalities attended Dubai’s BAD’ Oween badminton tournament. This event was organized by the D’Neo badminton group headed by Nanay Shie and Mang Gorio in partnership with Phoenix Sports. The match started on October 15 and ended on October 22, 2021.

One of the main sponsors of the said event and who invited The Global Filipino Magazine is the SM Development Corporation (SMDC) under Mr. & Mrs. Kai and Angelica Gonzales. SMDC was a loyal sponsor who has supported all the events of the group since the beginning.

D’neo badminton group started in 2015 to promote fitness to the Filipinos. Up until now, they have been spreading wellness through badminton not only to Filipinos but to all nationalities. 

The competition started with small events until it grew to more significant events like Kalayaan (a tournament exclusive to Filipinos) and BAD’ Oween (open to all badminton teams in Dubai).

“All of us in the Committee, gusto talaga ang badminton. Love na love namin ang sport na to, kaya nag-organize kami ng mga events,” Nanay Shie said.

According to Mang Gorio, they are organizing badminton events because it can help Filipino who are working in UAE to have stress relievers and exercise.

This event is the second event of the year organized by the D’ Neo badminton group. The first tournament was held during the Independence Day of the Philippines on June 12 this year.

The group is looking forward to ‘ChriSmash,’ the last tournament of 2021, which will happen in December.
