PH DOLE to redeploy OFWs to South Korea on November

-

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced that the Philippines would start deploying workers to South Korea after entry restrictions in the country were lifted.

According to DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III, the department has ordered the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) to begin processing the deployment of workers to South Korea.

“This is very good news not only to our EPS (entry permit system) workers and their families but also to the Korean employers who have been waiting for our workers to return,” Bello said in an emailed statement.

On Friday, Korea’s Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) announced that it would allow workers under its EPS to come from all sending countries, including the Philippines.

In addition, the DOLE also directed the POEA to meet with Korean officials on entry and re-entry requirements for EPS workers to Korea.

The Philippines had been deploying Filipino workers to Korea under a government-to-government cooperation agreement since 2004.
