PH adds France to travel ban to prevent Omicron

As a precaution against the heavily mutated omicron COVID-19 variant, the Philippines will prohibit travelers from France from entering the country, Malacanang announced on Wednesday.

France will be included in the so-called “Red List,” or travelers denied entry to the Philippines, from 12:01 a.m. on December 10 until December 15, according to Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles.

According to him, the restriction applies to passengers who have been in France within the last 14 days.

Those who arrive on or after December 10 at 12:01 a.m. but before December 13 at 12:01 a.m. will be required to undergo facility-based quarantine for 14 days, with an RT-PCR test on the seventh day, according to Nograles.

Regardless of a negative RT-PCR result, the 14-day quarantine must be completed, he added.

“Only Filipinos returning to the country via government-initiated or non-government-initiated repatriation, and Bayanihan Flights may be allowed entry, subject to existing testing and quarantine protocols for Red List countries/territories/jurisdictions,” said Nograles.
