Comelec launches mock polls for 2022 with Mariah Carey, Taylor Swift, and Brad Pitt as ‘candidates’

During the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) mock polls held nationwide Wednesday in which they simulated the May 2022 national and local elections amid the COVID-19 pandemic, voters faced a star-studded field of “candidates.”

34 polling centers across seven regions were opened on May 9, 2022 at 7 a.m. in order to accommodate volunteers who want to get a feel for the process ahead of May 9, 2022.

“Para malaman namin kung ano talaga yung nangyayari. Safe naman. Hindi naman matagal… Hindi naman ako nahirapan, pareho lang [nung mga nakaraan],” Elvira told reporters, as she showed her inked index finger indicating she has “voted.”

Comelec will conclude the nationwide mock elections at 5 p.m., which will be followed by a mock canvassing of votes in the Cuneta Astrodome.
