Woman who lost her passport sentenced to 6 months in jail for using fake one to leave Dubai

-

Authorities in Dubai have arrested a woman who used a fake passport in an attempt to leave the emirate.

The 31-year-old woman, whose original passport was lost inside the UAE, will be jailed for six months according to reports.

While she was inside the country, she was illegally working without a permit.

She was caught at the Dubai Airport by a passport control officer while using a fake passport.

“She was in the passport zone and presented the travel document with a leave permit from the concerned authority in the country. I was checking the documents in the system and noticed a difference in the pictures,” the office said.

She admitted to losing her passport and working in the UAE illegally, adding that she wanted to leave UAE; however, she could not afford to pay the accumulated fines.

The woman also said that someone assisted her to get a fake passport.

She will be deported after serving six months in jail.
