During the vice-presidential debate the CNN today, February 26, 2022, Walden Bello took a hard swipe at his rival Sara Duterte who skipped the debate.
“I am really terribly sorry that Mayor [Sara] Duterte is not here to face the people. She is a coward just like Bongbong Marcos. She is a f**king coward,” Bello said.
His performance in the debate earned comments online. He did not only take swipe at the Davao mayor, but he also attacked his counterparts Kiko Pangilinan and Tito Sotto on the current admin’s war on drugs and China’s presence in the West Philippine Sea, among others.
“Did you say anything about EJKs? Did you protect Senator Leila de Lima from being persecuted? You were an ally of the president until just very recently,” he said.

I think he knows that he will not win so he just use the platform and his voice to spill the tea and boy did he do very well exposing what need to be exposed and stating the obvious. #CNNPHVPDebate
Applause for Walden Bello, just for blatantly pointing out how the absence of Marcos Jr. / Sara Duterte is unacceptable. We shouldn’t put up with candidates who refuse to show up for their voters. #CNNPHVPDebate #7KikoPangilinanVicePresident
