Meet these Filipino unsung heroes during the overseas voting at Philippine Consulate in Dubai

As the overseas voting came to an end last Monday, May 9, 2022, at the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, a group of Filipinos who share the same passion for biking assisted those who are queueing under the scorching summer just to exercise their right to vote and elect the next leaders for the next six years.

During the last four days of voting at the precinct in Al Qusais, the UAE MTB Jumeirah Bikers Group distributed food and drinks to Filipino voters waiting in line. The group of cyclists contributed so that they can ease their hunger and quench their thirst.

To maintain the cleanliness of the area, the volunteers picked up trash, including empty bottles, in the venue.

Engr. Frankie Boton, the founder and chairman of the group which was established in 2012, said that they are glad to help their fellow Filipinos. He revealed that the initiative was launched after seeing reports from The Global Filipino Magazine about the long queues of Filipino voters outside the consulate.

Boton thanked the following subgroups for their participation in the drive:

1. Jumeirah Girls

2. Jumeirah Wings

3. Jumeirah Enduro Team

4. Jumeirah Folding Club

5. Brgy. 4×4

6. Manibela Bikers

7. Pagpag Bikers

8. HotBoys MTB

9. Eskinita

For several years now, the organization has been conducting various charity works like beach cleaning, tree planting, feeding programs, and relief goods distribution, among others.

They also promote biking all over the UAE by means of urban biking and biking to work.
