New scams targeting iPhone users in UAE

Authorities in the UAE issued a new warning to iPhone users in the UAE against a scam message scheme targeting specifically them.

The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) shared an awareness video to warn iOS system users to inform them of phishing scams and fraudulent messages.

As seen in the video, a man is seen receiving a message on his iMesage informing him that he won a large amount.

The man opened the link that allowed him to ‘win’ up to $100,000 if he deposits $5,000.

When he opened the link and do the task, his bank was drained.

“There is a new trend of receiving iMessages on iPhones with an iOS system. TDRA calls on customers to beware of such phishing and fraudulent messages,” says an official message at the end of the video.
