A netizen was shocked upon opening the tinapa she bought from a sari-sari store because it was wrapped with a discharge summary of a patient from a hospital in Baguio.
The original photo was uploaded on Tiktak Gade Echavarre which features pieces of tinapa wrapped using a discharge summary of a patient from Baguio General Hospital and Medical Centre.
The same photo was reuploaded on the Facebook community group Homepaslupa Buddies 3.0 by a Vanessa Bobis.
On the Facebook group, the hospital responded to Bobis, reminding her about the Data Privacy Act which prohibits and makes punishable the sharing of personal data without the consent of the data subject.
“We already communicated to Tiktak Gade Echevarre and having understood the repercussions of his act, he already took down his post. Our institution is now in the process of investigating the matter as to how the Discharge Summary of our former patient who is from Pangasinan ended up being used as a wrapper for the tinapa,” the hospital commented.
As of this posting, the reuploaded photo is no longer available on the Facebook page.
“At any rate, initial investigation made disclosed that the Discharge Summary was the copy given to the patient upon discharge. As to how the patient disposed of her copy of the Discharge Summary is already one that is beyond the control of our institution,” it added.
