Netizen spends P600 for 9 canned goods; complains about higher cost of goods

After reports of the sugar and salt shortage in the Philippines made the headlines recently, the cost of goods in the country seems to be rocketing.

As seen on the Facebook post by an Ace Zhiku Williams, the amount he paid for nine canned goods was more than P600.

Williams could not believe that he spent a little over P600 on the following products:

3 Bangus Spanish Style

1 Saba Tuna

3 Tuna 555

1 Pack of Cheesebar

1 Purefoods Corned Beef

It seems like many consumers can relate to the post because as of this writing, the post, which was made on September 18, 2022, has now more than 7,000 shares, 12,000 reactions, and 300 comments.

“Grabe konti nalang mabibili mo sa 1k 😓parang 100 nalang,” a Facebook user left a comment.

“Nag grocery kami ng mom ko, isang push cart lang na di pa ganon kapuno, worth 10k na yun. We own a sari sari store, by the way,” another netizen wrote.

“Hirap na ng buhay ngayon K*ngina 1k halos ganyan lang din e wooh lezgo,” another one wrote.

“Sa fare palang nga ng tricycle na 30-50 pesos ay nakakapanghina na. kala mo jet fuel gamit nila huhu,” another Facebook user complained.

For months now, the country is facing the continued issue of inflation, making Filipinos struggle to make ends meet.
