In a swift response to a distress call, the Sharjah Police General Command confirmed the arrest of a taxi driver of Asian descent, who was implicated in a case involving the harassment of two minor girls.
The incident transpired as the two underage girls were traveling home in the evening, riding without the accompaniment of an adult. The accused taxi driver allegedly tried to take advantage of the minors’ vulnerability during the journey.
The harrowing ordeal was unveiled when the Buhairah Police Station received a grievance lodged by an Arab man, the father of one of the minors. He detailed how the suspect had harassed his 13-year-old daughter, who was returning home with her 15-year-old friend.
Reacting immediately, the Sharjah police quickly traced the location of the taxi and its driver, apprehending him in a commendable timeframe. Under questioning, the driver confessed to his illicit actions, leading to his arrest.
In the aftermath of this unsettling event, the Sharjah Police General Command emphasized the importance of parental vigilance. They stressed that parents bear a significant responsibility for their children’s safety, playing a crucial role that complements the duties of the police and security services.
Despite being aware of their daughters’ unsupervised taxi ride, the parents of the two victims had allowed the girls to travel alone. This unfortunate circumstance serves as a stark reminder for guardians to remain vigilant and consider potential risks in their children’s environment.
