Abu Dhabi is set to become a hub for innovative aviation as the US-based company Odys Aviation announces its plans to launch operations in the UAE.
The Ministry of Economy (MoE) revealed on Friday that Odys Aviation has joined its NextGen FDI program, which aims to support pioneering businesses in high-potential sectors, facilitating their smooth launch and expansion within the country.
Odys Aviation specializes in the production of hybrid-electric vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft, designed to accommodate passengers, cargo, and emergency services.
These cutting-edge aircraft will boast an all-electric propulsion range of 320 kilometers, with a hybrid-electric range exceeding 1,200 kilometers.
Such capabilities hold the potential to reduce carbon emissions on pan-GCC air travel by an impressive 76 percent, providing a zero-carbon alternative for all journeys across the UAE.
This move is expected to generate over 2,000 direct and indirect jobs in the Emirates while marking the export of the first aircraft manufactured under the prestigious “Made in the UAE” certification.
